Introduction - myKenyaTrip.com

In July of 2008, my husband and I set out from the U.S. to Kenya - Africa for a life time experience, a Safari at the most famous Game Reserve, namely; Masai Mara as well as a trip to Lake Nakuru.

Once in Kenya we started off from Nairobi (the capital city) and we drove through the rift valley. The landscape is so wonderful, we made several stops and enjoyed taking photos of the beautiful scenary through the country side, where we saw beautiful farms with different crops and sheep, goats and cattle belonging to the local people; Masai.

The trip took about 5 - 6 hrs by road and we finally arrived at our destination - The Masai Mara.

We arrived just in time for lunch and were warmly welcomed at the Keekorok lodge. This lodge has been visited by Bill Gates, Prince William and even the Queen of England. After lunch and some rest we set off for game viewing.

We saw many different animals including the 'big five'; buffalo, rhinos, lions, leopards and elephants. The animals are so beautiful in their natural habitat - when u look at some of them you can see the sheen on their coats (you'd think they were taken for pet grooming). What makes this particular park unique is the migration of the wildebeast seemingly leading the other animals, at that time of the year, crossing from the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya, looking for food and greener grass . The sight of the animals is breathtaking they are literally millions of them.

Everyday we started off early in the morning in order to see as many animals as possible. I must say some of the animals were a bit hard to find at certain times of the day, it was better either early in the morning or late afternoon. Lions for example would be hard to find at any time of the day except early in the morning.

Among other animals found the park are Zebras, monkeys, hippos and many different types of birds.
